This year is going to be an African one. To start with, I am doing a trip to Egypt, where I will spend 10 days traveling from North to South, by train and felucca, along the Nile river.
I will fly directly to Cairo from London Heathrow. It is a 6 hours flight and I will be using Egyptair, the Egyptian national airline. I’ve got my visa already so I imagine it will be quite easy to get out of the airport.[/one_half_first][one_half_last]Volaré a El Cairo desde Londres Heathrow. Es un vuelo de 6 horas y lo haré con Egyptair, la compañía aérea nacional egipcia. Ya tengo mi visado listo así que imagino que los trámites en el aeropuerto serán rápidos.
I will be getting to Cairo late at night, so I will need a bit of sleep to discover the capital in the morning. On the afternoon I will be meeting the group I am traveling with and will have time to see Cairo at night.
The second day I will do a tour around the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx. I will have some time as well to get lost in the narrow alleys of the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, hopefully some time for shopping or people watching from a shisha café, before getting on an overnight sleeper train to Aswan (which will take around 12 hours).
Llegaré a El Cairo por la noche, así que iré al hotel a dormir y descansar un poco para poder disfrutar de la capital por la mañana. Esa tarde conoceré al grupo de gente con el que voy a viajar y habrá tiempo de disfrutar la vida nocturna de El Cairo.
El segundo día haré un tour por las Pirámides de Giza y la Esfinge. Tendré tiempo de perderme por los callejones del bazar Khan el-Khalili, de hacer alguna compra regateando y de ver a la gente pasar desde algún café, entre shishas, antes de tomar el tren nocturno hasta Aswan (este trayecto son unas 12 horas).
I will spend two days in Aswan. This will be the Southest I will be in Egypt. When the sun goes down I will board a local boat, known as a felucca, to take a trip along the magnificent Nile river, with views of the Aga Khan Mausoleum and Kitchener Island. I will stop on the largest of the Nile islands in this area, Elephantine Island. Will have a walk through the village and fields and learn more about the life of the Nubian people before enjoying a traditional dinner at a local home.
Abu Simbel temples are reachabe from here, so I will hopefully have time to visit them on the second day in Aswan.
Estaré un par de días en Aswan. Esta ciudad es lo más al Sur de Egipto que voy a estar. Cuando el sol se ponga me embarcaré en un velero local, llamado feluca, antiguo barco egipcio, para navegar Nilo arriba, pasando por el Mausoleo Aga Khan y la Isla de Kitchener. Haré una parada en la isla más grande del Nilo en este área, la Isla Elephantine. Pasearé por pueblos y campos y descubriré cosas sobre la vida de la gente Nubia antes de disfrutar de una cena local en casa de una familia egipcia.
Los templos de Abu Simbel están a una distancia razonable de aquí, así que espero tener tiempo para visitarlos en mi segundo día en Aswan.
I will be sailing the Nile river on a felucca for a couple of days and will be traveling and living like the ancient Egyptians used to do. I will be sleeping under the stars on the boat and will visit Kom Ombo and Edfu on the way to Luxor.
On the seventh day I will be spending the day at Luxor before an overnight sleeper train brings me back to Cairo (which will take around 10 hours).
Estaré navegando por el Nilo en la feluca por un par de días, viviendo como los antiguos egipcios solían hacer. Dormiré bajo las estrellas en el barco y visitaré Kom Ombo y Edfu de camino a Luxor.
Pasaré el séptimo día de viaje en Luxor, y por la tarde cogeré un tren nocturno que me llevará de vuelta a El Cairo (el trayecto son unas 10 horas, sin contar con típicos retrasos egipcios…).
I will be staying in a hostel in Cairo for the last 3 days to have a proper time to enjoy the capital and visit the bazaars and cafes, drink some teas and get tanned!
Pasaré los últimos 3 días en un hostal en El Cairo para tener tiempo suficiente de disfrutar la capital, los bazares y cafés, beber té y ponerme morena.
